Has anyone ever gone to Kitty Hawk, N.C.? My son has booked an hotel on the beach for my husband and I as a gift. Is there anything else to do other than go to the beach? We both have a history of skin cancer, but we do like to go antiqueing…. any hope for us?

Oh, I forgot so many things. There are lighthouses, The Lost Colony-which is an outdoor drama in Manteo. There are small, interesting shops, you might check out the Cotton Gin, check out this link for antiques http://www.nagsheadguide.com/shopping/category/antiques Of course there is fishing too. Can find lots of beautiful jewelry & hammocks.

As Tammy mentioned, the food is out of this world. If you are a seafood lover, you might want to consider taking a cooler and bringing some home with you. North Carolina is known for shrimp and other seafood.

I agree with Tammy about landmarks as well. The lighthouses are stunning to see in person. It is certainly worth taking a camera on your trip.

Oh Joann! You are blessed! Our favorite place to vacation is the Outer Banks of NC! Of course you have the Wright Brothers museum and monument and can pay for an airplane ride which is kinda cool. You can get a great kite at Kitty Hawk kites and fly it at Jockey’s Ridge at Kill Devil Hills. Or just climb to the top of it for a great view of the ocean. Nags Head area was our favorite place to stay, though most of the beaches there were usually not Nearly as crowded as VA beach or Myrtle Beach. It is very relaxing to walk for a long way up and down the beach or read a book under a beach umbrella. The food nearby is wonderful if you like seafood. Check out this website for more info. http://www.outerbanks.org and search the web for Outer Banks, and all the areas I mentioned. There is also a ferry that runs between some of the barrier islands that is south a little from Kitty Hawk area. Have fun!
