I’d like to create a web page, but I don’t know how. Some years ago there was software that allow one to create a web page using Illustrator, InDesign, MultiAd Creator, PhotoShop, AppleWorks or any other typesetting software out there. One would create a web page similar to setting a full page newspaper ad. Then using that conversion software one could convert the type set page to a web page. Is that software still available? Does it work? Is there anything similar to that on the market? I’m already adept in using typesetting software. If I could take this route to a web page, I wouldn’t have to learn an entire, new language.

Thanks for a good alternative, Chris, I’ll look into them both. The reason I’m looking for a shortcut is that I’m 77 and so damn tired of learning curves. I’ve taken so many of them, I’m back where I started from. One can teach old dogs new tricks, but it takes a whole lot longer.

You can create html web pages by saving your Microsoft Word documents in that format. Many people create entire websites entirely using Microsoft Word.
Answer #4
Many of the newer programs you’ve mentioned have some sort of web page template. Might want to delve deeper into the software you have first. Dreamweaver is one of the best, but it’s pricey.

I think you are talking about DW dream weaver.

Hey Brab,
In my experience, the programs that take one type of document (though I know nothing about typesetting software), and turn it into an html page, don’t do a very good job of it. To have a good, well functioning web site, it has to be designed as a web page.
There are a lot of things you can do in the future, like getting a commercial html editor, learning scripting, programing and such… and these things will come with time as you build out your site… But if you just want to get something up and running, and then grow it over time, I would suggest getting an inexpensive hosting account that includes a wysiwyg (What You See Is What You Get) web page editor.
You can get something like this, which includes hosting, the domain name, an editor, templates, etc, for about $5/month:

Or another (about the same price, but charges for domain name):
http://www.asmallorange.com/hosting/shared/
and there are tons of others, just google them.
That will get you started, and while there is some learning curve involved, these sites make a quick start up pretty easy – and then you can use your site to learn more :)
