Besides defragmenting & cleaning out cookies..is there something else I can be doing or any free programs out there to make your computer run faster again?

Hi Wifemem203, welcome to CK :)
You might try a registry cleaner.
Whenever my computers get slow or quirky, I run a registry cleaner from JV Powertools. The software costs about $30 but has been well worthwhile. I would be hesitant to use any of the 'free' ones you might see out there, as you have to be careful with anything you do with the registry.
