Does anyone know how much an extra would get to appear in a major motion picture.

Also, is the part is a speaking part, what might they be paid?

This is one I can ask my sister-in-law about. She has done extra work here in Orlando. Also, her daughter is a stunt person. Will post when I email her and get an answer!

Got an answer from my sister-in-law, who lives in Florida, by the way. Different states have different scales, it seems. Hope this helps--and good luck:)

Because we live in a “right to work” state, non-union extras are paid anywhere from $75-100 a day for as long as the day runs, (can be any hours and up to a 12-15 hour day). If the individual is non-union, a speaking part is negotiable as far as the day rate and there are no residuals involved. Only SAG actors are paid by union scale with residuals following.
Sorry I can’t be more specific, but that’s reality. It usually takes many years of experience to be qualified and excepted into the Screen Actors Guild. After joining, there is more competition in auditioning for parts, fewer jobs, but much better compensation with residuals for movies, TV and commercials.

They normally only get paid $50 or more for their appearance as an extra in the film.
