Question
Tina

There's a small black dot on my computer's monitor screen. At first I thought it was on the surface of the screen, but I can't get it off. What could it be and what do I do about it?

What I have found is that you have a set of bad pixels in your screen and it will spread. There isn't a fix for this, it is a manufacturing defect.
If it is still under warranty you can try to get them to replace it, otherwise you will eventually need a new monitor.

Be kind and clear. Please provide more than a yes/no answer. Expand on your answers with details, alternate solutions, and appropriate links.

You may add an answer even if another has already been chosen 'best'. You might have a better answer which will benefit the community and future visitors.

Webmasters - you can post a link to your own site in the answer, if it is a legitimate part of your answer. Links contained in the body of the answer are not 'live' though. If you want a live link, please add it to your profile.
