Well, that's gotten to be a bit of a political question, unfortuantly. People sometimes have agendas and they try to further their agendas by jumping on something scary like global warming. Some will say humans are causing the world temperatures to rise and that we must curtail development, progress, commercialism and the free market, to save the planet from catastrophe. And it's hard to argue when cities of concrete reflect heat and factories pump out smoke and fog. Some knowledgeable scientists and experts point out that the earth has gone through warming and cooling periods for as long as there's been an earth. Some point out that data indicates we are going through a cooling trend now. Many say that the impact that humans make on global cooling and warming is little, others say it can't be calculated. So... to answer your question, I (but others may disagree) believe that global warming started about the same time earth did, and there have been warming and cooling periods all along. The impact humans have had on global warming is debatable, even though some people will try to bully others into thinking it's an established fact. When something like this has been so politicized, I tend to look to people that are not extremest and learn from them. Wow, I think I over-answered your questions and kind of rambled here, but I hope you find something useful in it! |
