New camera, film or digital?

Any advantage to sticking a film camera? Quality or ease of use wise? My current is film but I've tried out some digital and they seem pretty easy, but they still sale film... so there must be something advantage. This will be for casual use.

today's digital cameras produce images equal to those produced by film cameras. that might not have been the case a few years ago. digital pictures are easier to share... you can e-mail, upload, and post them on web sites, etc. also, the prices of digital cameras have come way down in recent years. i would definitely recommend you go digital!

I do love my digital! I'm not a great photographer and wish I was. Sometimes, what I've seen on film has been unequaled, but way out of my league anyway.
Digital is easier sharing, saving and editing. Quality can be very, very good depending on your budget.

Though some old pros might not agree that the quality of images produced from digital is quite as good as film--at least not yet--that's really a specialized concern applying to shooters obsessed with capturing every little minute detail in an image. For "casual use" as you'll be doing, then film definitely is NOT the way to go unless you have a lot of money to waste. There's a trait all top photographers share: they take a lot of shots of a scene in order to snare that one special shot. Film will continually cost you money to develop (plus, you’ll need to have film scanning done in order to upload to the internet), but a memory card on a digital camera can be used again and again at no additional cost. Therefore, even if you are a "serious" photographer, digital is arguably the way to go to learn the craft. And, should you develop more than a casual interest in the future, film may have already gone the way of the vhs and eight-track tape: obsolete and more of a collector's item than a practical commodity.

These is no point of sticking to a file camera anymore. With digital camera you get more control over all basic options and also you can store 1000's of photos in a memory card and reuse it.
