I was just prescribed by my doctor .25 mg Xanax for Anxiety/Panic Attacks. But through my pharmacy I always get the generic version b/c it’s much cheaper that way, so they gave me Alprazolam. I was just curious if anyone has taken this and if they have had any side effects???? Thanks! :)

Your pharmacy should have provided you with information on a drug you have never taken, that would include an side effects. I have taken Zanax, for stress headaches, and all it did was make me feel goofy. I only took it once, and flushed the rest.

Look in the Pysician’s Desk Reference (PDR) and you will find a list of side effects. It is from a reputable source, as well.

I am not sure in women if it decreases the sex drive or not but in some men it can cause erectile dysfunction.

It can make you sleepy. Anytime you try a new medication you should take it at home where you won’t have to drive to see how it affects you. Due to it being a control medication, it does have the ability to be addictive. That’s one of the reasons control medication prescriptions are only good for 6 months, so after 6 months you need a new prescription from the doctor so they can monitor you more closely(see how often you refill, etc).
It’s also possible that a generic will affect you differently than a brand medication would. If you don’t feel enough of an effect, ask your doctor for either a different medication or the brand.

as a matter of fact this is a good question for me because u see
I’ve been on xanax for panic attacks but i take the 1mg which is
stronger than .25mg that’s the lowest dosage that you can get but
anyways I’m the type that I like to look up any medicines that i have to take on the internet and found out that the side effects are
very mild with the dosage that u are taking. they have helped me
out alot especially when i have a panic attack i take one and it stops my attacks that’s the only thing that I found out that really
works. I take the generic ones too because they are alot cheaper.
but with the low dosage that u are taking I wouldn’t worry about it
because the side effects are very mild. it really helps to calm u down when u have a panic attack but their not addictive as long as u only take them as prescribed. I really hope that I helped.

Xanax aka alprazolam, is an anti-anxiety agent. Side effects are dependant upon dose for most people. The lower the dose, usually the less the side effect. Primary side effects are related to central nervous system depression, you can be sleepy, lethargic, tired. Your appetite can be depressed, and you can have mild ataxia.
Be aware that xanax is indeed habit forming, and must never be stopped suddenly after taking it for over a month.
