There is a line at the bottom of my pay stub, after taxes are taken out, that says "tip advance repayment" and follows is a minus number of all my tips! What is that about? Is it legal in California?

If the Restaraunt you work for accepts credit cards which most do, than more than likely it is the tip that was put on the credit card under your server number. If it’s not that it could be the company taking out tips on you if your not claiming them yourself.
