What's the best way to keep squirrels out of my bird feeder? I've tried different kinds of bird feeders but the squirrels just break in anyway.

A wire mesh screen will allow the birds beak to pick up the seed but small enough to keep the squirrels paws out. Squirrels can jump from tree limbs to feeders but I don't think they can climb a steel pole to reach a feeder.

Squirrels are very resourceful creatures with plenty of time to figure out how to get to your bird feeders. There are however some very good feeders that do a great job of keeping the squirrels away, but they are not cheap. The Yankee Flipper is one I can attest to that are squirrel proof. I have had one for 5 years with no problems.
Another option is to use a squirrel barrier around the pole your feeder is mounted on and you may need another barrier on top of the feeder to keep them from coming down from above.
With either of these options, the feeder must be positioned so the squirrels cannot jump or reach it from any object close to the feeder.
