Good question:) The only non-messy way, I know, is to bake it (with the crusty topping)!! Otherwise, my mother’s chicken was so good—she breaded it a paper bag with a little flour, corn meal and salt and pepper. Then she browned it in an iron skillet with Crisco —-when brown, she put a little bit of water-little bit—and covered it to steam done. She then turned up the heat and made it crispy again. Made myself want some just describing it!!!
