Any reason to keep car insurance on an unused car? It won’t be driven for the next year or so.

If your car is going to be kept off the road for a while, then you can make a "Statutory Off-Road Notification" (or SORN) with the DVLA. However, the car *must* be kept off the public road and stored on private land.
Be aware of the catch-22 of then getting your car MOT’d as one will more than likely be due should you later wish to use it again. You’ll need to get it MOT’d before getting your tax disc and insurance, and you’ll need to get your car to the MOT testing station.
