This machine http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=220602 will do what you want. However, the price tag (about $150) is pretty steep and you can get similar results by connecting a cassette deck to the Line In connection of a decent sound card. A stackable unit is best, as the gain on the Line Out connection to an amplifier will be the correct level for a sound card’s Line In port, though you may need to get an adaptor to connect the two phono (RCA) jacks to a 3.5mm stereo plug. (The Creative Labs USB sound box has its Line In connection as a pair of phono sockets.) Audacity will handle the capturing side of things – just remember to capture and save as WAV, 16bits, stereo, 44100Hz, as that is the format used by CD audio discs. You can also then run those files through an MP3 encoder (e.g. LAME) to then upload to your MP3 player.
