What are some good homeschooling sites for teaching reading?
Answer #2
I'll second starfall.com
I tried lots of sites looking for something my 5 year old daughter would have fun with and learn to read on.
Of all the things we looked at, starfall was the one she liked and she's doing great on it.
We aren't ready to move on to anything more advanced yet, but when we are I'll try out these other sites.

Great, thank you, we will try them out in the morning!

We use the Internet to teach all subjects, but for early readers our favorite has been Starfall.com
You can start your preschool age kids on Starfall to learn their letters and sounds and move them right up to where they're really reading. There are also games for them to play that reinforce what they are learning.
For both our young and older readers we like Scholastic http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/learn.jsp and the older kids are alwasy interested in the stories at Time for Kids. http://www.timeforkids.com/TFK/kids/news
For spelling check out http://www.spellingcity.com – be sure to create an account and you can put each or your child's spelling words into a list taylored especially for them. There are games that reinforce their own specific spelling words as well as tests and certificates to print once they master their list.
Hope you'll enjoy some of these great sites.
